Eat more cookies

So this summer (and spring and winter, actually) has been really dry in Stillwater. We’ve had occasional storms - some of which dropped a couple of inches at a time - but we really haven’t had any kind of predictable precipitation around here since last fall. We’ve had lots of big storms sweep through the state over the past few months, but time and time again the clouds have fizzled right over us while dumping good rains to the northeast and southwest of us.

Right now it’s 10:30 in the evening - the kids are running around in their underwear playing with Mater, Lightning McQueen, and Doc Hudson - and there’s a BIG thunderhead just north of us, and the lightning is flashing like crazy. Will we get any rain out of this one? Will we? WILL WE??? (tjo)

PS: just checked The Weather Channel website and our current conditions are “89F feels like 92F” with “Thunder in the vicinity.”

So we were up early this morning and got caught up watching the movie “Pay it Forward.” Neither of us had ever seen it. If you haven’t, don’t! They kill the kid in the end!! (Spoiler alert!) What’s up with that? Whatsmore, you never find out what happens to Jesus after he helps the lady on the bridge. Actually, we haven’t seen that movie either. I heard they kill him in the end too . . . We just got back from vacation last week. Although it’s hard to think of 3600 miles in a car with a 5 year old and 7 1/2 year old as vacation, we did get to see all our family and the kids played with a myriad of cousins. And it’s always fun to see the St. Louis arch as we drive over the Mississippi. But a week on a beach would be nice right about now! (tdo)
