Some local birds, 18 April 2010

I took some time to myself on a drizzly Saturday morning and found some birds I haven’t seen for a while. The stage was set by this tom turkey at Lake Carl Blackwell. He was in full display, but I never did hear him gobble.

It’s always nice to welcome the migrants back. This Brown Thrasher was singing persistently from the feathery top of a redcedar.

This Blue-gray Gnatcatcher (and his mate) came in close, but he wasn’t much for sitting still.

This 2nd year male Black-and-White Warbler actually came in too close. Now that’s frustrating.

But at least this Orange-crowned Warbler posed nicely for me.
