Those stupid “energy bracelets”

I’m dismayed to see so many sports stars and other folks extolling the virtues of their magnetized energy balance bracelets. It’s a scam, people: They don’t provide any boost in performance and, more important, there’s no physiological reason why holding a magnet close to your wrist would promote improved balance, endurance or strength.

Don’t believe me? Check this out.

Classic demonstration of the placebo effect in action. If you really want to make a pithy and ironic statement against the silliness of such miracle wristbands, be sure to order your placebo band today!

Irony in motion – check out Derrick Rose (who normally wears Power Balance wristbands but isn’t in this photo) scoring over Lamar Odom who’s wearing two of them!
