2014 Birder’s Guide to Gear Online and FREE!
The ABA’s 2014 Birder’s Guide to Gear should already be in the hands of ABA members, but if you haven’t seen it yet you don’t have to be a member to see what’s inside. Birder’s Guide is just one of the free resources that the ABA provides to the birding public. The entirety of this issue of Birder’s Guide is available online right now.
Everyone expects to find articles on binoculars and cameras in a guide to birding gear. And, indeed, you’ll find a review of compact binoculars and an article on getting the most out of your camera in this issue. But we’re also trying to think outside the box and are covering one or two topics that may surprise you. (You’ll have to look inside to see what!)
Please let us know what you’d like to see reviewed or discussed in the next issue, no matter how unconventional. Even better, consider writing an article for us. Birder’s Guide only exists because our talented pool of ABA members contributes manuscripts for publication. We depend on you sharing your knowledge with the rest of us! Please consider taking just a moment to share your thoughts with us by leaving a comment at The ABA Blog.
Help the ABA this Holiday Season!
I’m sure we’d all agree that the North American birding community is better for having an organization like the ABA in the middle of it. From free publications like Birder’s Guide, member benefits like Birding magazine, renowned conservation and young birder initiatives, and a myriad of opportunities for birders to congregate and communicate in print, online, or in the real world, the ABA is a channel for the positive energy of birders from coast to coast.
But we cannot do it without your help. Please consider donating to the ABA this holiday season. Your generous donation is greatly appreciated and goes to help the ABA be the organization that the North American birding community wants and needs.
As a thank you for your help, the ABA is offering prints of bird artist and ABA member John Sill’s fantastic 2014 Bird of the Year artwork, which was featured on the cover of 2014’s first issue of Birding magazine. Donations of $100 will receive an 8 1/2” x 11” print; gifts of $250 or more will qualify for an 11” x 14” print, hand-signed by the artist.
Young birders enjoy the birds and the views at ABA’s Camp Colorado. Your donation not only helps fund the continued running of these camps, but helps provide scholarships to young birders to attend them.
Thanks for your continued support of the ABA, and we hope you have a Happy Holiday season.
